El pasado 3 de febrero, nuestras estudiantes sénior del grupo de trabajo de Tapices Flamencos visitaron el Museo de la Catedral de Santiago de Compostela.vEl Museo de la catedral de Santiago de Compostela expone una serie de tapices entre los que figuran varios del siglo XVII elaborados a partir de diseños de Rubens y sus discípulos. El principal objetivo de esta visita de estudio fue conocer de primera mano los famosos trapices de Rubbens depositados en el museo. Se entrevistaron con el Director del Museo que les autorizó tomar fotografías de los tapices para su uso académico. Aqui se pueden ver algunas de las fotografías.

On February 3rd., our senior students of the Working Group "Flemish Tapestries" visited the Cathedral Museum of Santiago de Compostela. The Museum exhibits a series of tapestries made from Rubens designs and his disciples during the seventeenth century. The principal aim of this study visit was getting first-hand knowledge of the famous tapestries by Rubens lodged in the Museum. They interviewed the Director of the Museum who allowed them to take pictures of the tapestries. Here, you can see some of these pictures:
Fue una interesante experiencia. Nunca imaginamos que "tirando del hilo", los tapices nos llevarían descubrir tantas cosas interesantes sobre los mismos, su valor, y el prestigió que alcanzaron entre las cortes europeas. El Patrimonio Nacional de España cuenta con una de las mejores colecciones del mundo en tapices flamencos del XVI y XVI, debido al interés mostrado por sus monarcas, tradición ya iniciada por los Reyes Católicos, fomentada por el emperador Carlos I Felipe II, la Infanta Isabel Clara Eugenia y su esposo el Archiduque Alberto de Austria, y Felipe IV, principalmente.
ResponderEliminarLa biografía de Rubens, el más celebre pintor flamenco del barroco, y diseñador de importantes series de tapices, es ciertamente apasionante. Sobre todo nos ha entusiasmado el papel diplomático y conciliador entre los monarcas europeos de su tiempo, que le tocó desempeñar por su mucha valía, como hombre culto, humanista y de gran prestigio.
Este trabajo nos ha acercado mucho al conocimiento de la época en que Flandes y España compartieron arte e historia.

It was an interesting experience. We never imagined that "pulling the thread" tapestries lead us to discover many interesting things about them, their value and the prestige they reached between the European courts. National Heritage of Spain has one of the best collections in the world in Flemish tapestries from the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, due to the interest shown by their monarchs, tradition begun by the Catholic Monarchs, encouraged by Emperor Charles I, Felipe II, the princess Isabel Clara Eugenia and her husband, Archduke Albert of Austria, and Philip IV, mainly.
The Rubens´s biography, the most famous Flemish baroque painter, and designer of important series of tapestries, is certainly exciting. Especially, he has impressed us by his diplomatic and conciliatory role between European monarchs of his time, that he had to play for his great worth as a culture, humanistic man and your high prestige.
This work has brought us to the knowledge of the time that Flanders and Spain shared art and history.
